Abstract
INTRODUCTION: This study was to the effects of changes of lower muscle function on balance ability of men according age.

METHOD: Healthy 235 men were recruited for this study. Measurements were mead of balance ability, lower muscle strength and muscle endurance. We analyzed the data using one-way ANOVA. Scheffe post hoc tests were conducted to assess the difference among the variables. The Pearson correlation was used to examine the relationship among balance ability, lower muscle strength, and muscle endurance.

RESULT: Dynamic balance ability, which there was a differences in age, in 20s and 30s were higher than in 50s. Static balance ability, which there was a differences in age, in 20s and 30s were higher than in 50s and 60s. The lower extensor muscle strength showed a significant difference in ages, except in flexor muscle strength, in from 20s to 40s were higher than in 50s and 60s. The lower muscle endurance showed a significant difference in ages, in 20s was higher than in other age groups, and 30s and 40s were higher than in 50s and 60s. The dynamic balance ability had a negative correlation with muscle strength and the static balance ability had a negative correlation with muscle endurance.

CONCLUSION: The change of lower muscles endurance was earlier than muscle strength. Therefore we suggested that promoting physical activity plan should be established with age increasing, especially from the early 30s.
